چکیده

Introduction Global Climate Change (GCC) is the most pressing problem the world faces today, due to the potentially catastrophic and far-reaching nature of its effects. If the world’s governments do not successfully cut their projected carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in half by 2056, extremely damaging and irreversible effects will likely result [1, 2]. There are myriad ways to reduce these emissions, and many of them must be undertaken to accomplish the necessary reductions. One of the most readily achievable methods is to increase the average fuel economy of the global automobile fleet from the current 30 miles per gallon (mpg) to 60 mpg by 2056. With U.S. leadership, the gradual increase in global efficiency standards is not only feasible, but will provide ancillary benefits to the U.S. and other nations. In fact, it would address many of the most important national priorities, including job creation, protecting national security, and promoting a cleaner environment.

Measurement and Analysis of Green Energy Economy Indicators in Iran (Measurement of Carbon Dioxide Emission and its Elasticity)

Achieving sustainable economic growth is one of the most important goals of countries' economic programs and policies in the current era. Along with economic growth, consumption of energy rises. Since fossil fuels provide a major share of the world's energy, increased fuel consumption is an inevitable feature of economic growth.  Continuation of this trend increases greenhouse gas emmissions, n...

Overlapping Strategies for Reducing Carbon Emissions from the Personal Transportation Sector∗

We develop a numerical model to simulate the impacts of overlapping energy policies on carbon emissions in the U.S. personal transportation sector. Consumers in our model demand fuel based on their underlying demand for miles and choices about car fuel economy; firms supply fuel by blending gasoline with corn, sugarcane, and cellulosic ethanol. We find that the current fuel tax, size-based fuel...

Investigation of performance and exhaust emission of diesel engine in different ratios of lambda coefficient using diesel-ethanol fuel blends

In recent decades, rising greenhouse gas emissions have become a major challenge and concern. Environmental pollution is one of the greatest human challenges of the 21st century. Improving the performance of internal combustion engines and reducing the amount of pollutant emissions has always been a concern for researchers. The use of alternative fuels and the control and adjustment of the lamb...

Decomposition and Analysis of Driving Forces of GHG Emissions and Emission Reduction Potentials in Iran

Climate change cannot control unless by reduction of GHG emissions to secure level, therefore it is important to identify driving forces and possible scenarios based on targets. In this research, the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index decomposition approach in combination with Extended Kaya Identity (EKI) are applied to investigate five factors could affect emissions during 1971-2012 in Iran. Thes...

Optimization of Fuel Consumption and Emissions for Auxiliary Power Unit Based on Multi-Objective Optimization Model

Auxiliary power units (APUs) are widely used for electric power generation in various types of electric vehicles, improvements in fuel economy and emissions of these vehicles directly depend on the operating point of the APUs. In order to balance the conflicting goals of fuel consumption and emissions reduction in the process of operating point choice, the APU operating point optimization probl...
